Our Story

How LDL Garage Doors came to be

LDL Garage Doors takes its name from the two people who started it in 2010: Len Dombrowski and his son Luke. Len spent twenty-two years as a maintenance millwright in an Akron manufacturing plant, setting presses and conveyors to tolerances measured in thousandths. When the plant cut its maintenance staff, he and Luke bought a set of spring-winding bars and a torque wrench and started fixing garage doors with the same discipline. The first location was a two-bay building in Akron. The habits came from the plant floor.

Northeast Ohio is hard on doors. Lake-effect snow buries driveways from Mentor to Sandusky, freeze-thaw cycles heave slabs in Cleveland and Elyria, and January mornings in Youngstown and Warren push standard springs past the point where they stay flexible. We answer that with cold-rated torsion springs, low-temperature lubricants, insulated steel doors with polyurethane cores, and threshold seals that actually meet the slab. Every job starts with the door measured for level, plumb, and balance, because a door that was square in July may not be square in February.

Precision is the whole business model. Fasteners are torqued to spec, cable tension is checked on both sides, and every installation is logged with the spring size, opener model, and settings so the next technician can pick up where the last one left off. The company now has locations in Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Warren, Mentor, Elyria, Sandusky, Mansfield, and Wooster, and every technician trained under Len before running jobs on their own. Luke runs the schedule. Len still inspects installations, and still carries the torque wrench.

I set up presses for twenty years before I ever hung a garage door. The tolerances did not change, only the customer. — Len, founder

What We Stand For

The values behind every job

01

Safety First

Garage doors are the heaviest moving object in most homes. We treat every spring, cable, and opener with the care and training it demands.

02

Reliability

We keep the appointment we set and finish the job right, with technicians who explain the work before it starts.

03

Clear Communication

A clear quote and honest advice before any work begins, plus updates every step of the way.

04

Quality Workmanship

Durable, high-cycle parts and root-cause repairs so your door keeps working for years.

How It Works

From first call to finished job

Every location follows the same four steps, so you always know what happens next.

  1. 01

    Call or contact your location

Reach the LDL Garage Doors location nearest you Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM, or send a message through the contact form. Describe the door and what you've noticed.

  2. 02

    Get a written quote

A technician looks at the job, explains the options, and puts the price in writing before any work starts. No work begins until you approve it.

  3. 03

    Schedule the appointment

Pick an appointment window during business hours. The location confirms the time with you and notes any parts that need to be ordered in advance.

  4. 04

    Work completed and checked

The job is finished, tested in front of you, and documented. You get the paperwork for your records and a straight answer on what to watch for next.

Why LDL

Why choose LDL Garage Doors

The speed of a large company with the accountability of a local team.

01

Cold-rated springs and hardware

Torsion springs and lubricants specified for sub-zero mornings, when standard parts stiffen and snap.

02

Insulated, sealed doors

Polyurethane-core steel doors and threshold seals that keep the garage above freezing and the drafts out of the house.

03

Freeze-thaw track alignment

Level, plumb, and slab heave are checked on every job, because Ohio ground moves and doors follow it.

04

Torque-spec installation

Every fastener, cable, and bracket set to specification and logged, so the door works the same in February as in July.
